January Shared Plate
Santa Cruz Welcoming Network
Our January Shared Plate partner is the Santa Cruz Welcoming Network, an all-volunteer network of "welcoming teams" who welcome and accompany asylum seekers and others fleeing persecution. Welcoming Teams help our new neighbors recover from the trauma of their journey, secure representation in immigration court, get access to healthcare and children in school, etc. The challenges they face are now much more severe following the recent elections, so WN volunteers are also deeply involved in community response to threatened mass deportations. All donations are used for direct support of our new neighbors as they begin life in our community.
