In this vital moment of resistance to authoritarianism, it can be so satisfying to point fingers of bitter blame at the people working to destroy what we hold dear. But our Universalist faith insists that everyone, even the people we loathe the most, is precious and infinitely loved–and that our work for justice is strengthened by our capacity to channel that universal love ourselves. Easier said than done, though! A good place to start is getting in touch with our own shadows—all the parts of ourselves we don’t like or can’t accept.
