Is our species part of the natural world or separate from it? Our legacy from the very first chapter of the Bible is that we have authority over all the creatures of the Earth. But evolution assigns us a much more modest place: alongside countless other species inside a vast web of life that is constantly changing. Let’s explore whether our complex brains can allow these two points of view to coexist.
