Care Webs: Disability Justice and Us

Although the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) was passed in 1990, disabled people still struggle for full social inclusion and equality. Drawing from the work of disability activists, this week’s service considers the concept of Care Webs and asks us to boldly imagine what can be possible when we choose to show up for ourselves and for one another. We will consider the ways in which disability justice impacts us all — from those who are currently disabled to those of us living in temporarily able bodies — and the ways in which, as poet Mary Oliver says, “the soft animal of your body” is central to our liberation.
