Being Tested

The election results of Tuesday November 8th have revealed what a lot of us didn’t know:  our country is pretty much evenly split in our political, social, and cultural views.  And while the two views have some commonality, their differences are startling.  As a country and as religious people, we are being tested.  The actions ahead of us will define our future.  The choices we make will either bring the two halves closer together or create a schism may take generations to heal.  Does this sound dire?  That’s what being tested is about.  Everyone can survive in a peaceful, safe, harmonious society—but that perfect state is still a goal.  It is easy to coast along when things are going well.  Being tested is what life is really about.  Being tested is a question to each of us as individuals “what are you going to do?  to say? to act on?”  The current divided state can be the basis for societal evolution toward justice—but progress, or continued separation, is up to you.

I hope that each of us and our Fellowship can behave like all the children of the world are watching us—and those children will copy our behavior.   How do you want your children and grandchildren to act when they are tested? Let’s show them how………peace in shared ministry…….Rev Russ
