The main order of business for our June Congregational meeting is always the adoption of next year’s budget. Check back for possible other agenda items.

Congregational Meeting – April 14

Bylaws require a Congregational meeting in April to elect next year’s Board members. The meeting will be held Sunday April 14, at approximately 12:30pm. The Nominating Committee will give their report on their recommended slate, and nominations may be made from the floor. The Slate from the Nominating Committee will be announced a week or so before the meeting. This Congregational meeting will also be an opportunity for a few key reports of committees and teams, and an opportunity to discuss plans for our “transitional ministry.” All members are strongly urged to attend. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Convocation – Wednesday, February 6, at 7:00 p.m.

Members of SAC (Social Action Comrades) will be attending the 29th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Convocation, and we want you to come, too! Come join us on Wednesday, February 6, at 7:00 p.m. at the Santa Cruz Civic Auditorium, 307 Church Street, Santa Cruz. Afterward, we’ll be meeting at Lulu’s on Pacific to chat about the talk.
The featured speaker and honored guest this year is Bob Moses, who was a leader in the 1960’s Civil Rights movement as the main organizer of the “Freedom Summer” project, a program which attempted to register as many African American voters as possible in Mississippi. A Harvard-trained educator, Mr. Moses later founded the Algebra Project, a foundation devoted to improving minority education in mathematics.

Stay on Park until it ends at Monterey Ave.Make a left, and go over Railroad Tracks.
Immediate left turn into Depot Hill, onto Escalona Ave.
Two blocks and make a right turn (only way you can turn) on Saxon Avenue.
We are the two story lavender house on the left, one block down.
Parking is OK on the street; There is no permit required.

Congregational Meeting and Forum – Nov. 4

On November 4, following the Sunday services, there will be a Congregational meeting to hear the report of the Nominating Committee. As required by our Bylaws, this Committee will be presenting their recommended names for the new Nominating Committee. Nominations may also be made “from the floor” by Fellowship members. Members will then vote to elect the members of the Nominating Committee. The new Committee will then put together a slate of nominees for the Board of Trustees next year (beginning in July). The election of next year’s Board takes place in April. Following the Congregational meeting, there will be a Congregational Forum. This will be an important event and all members are strongly encouraged to attend. The agenda will include a report from the Board regarding assessment and revitalization of the organization of the Fellowship. This will be an opportunity to have a “town hall’ discussion about where we are now, where we want to go, and what we want to accomplish. It will be an opportunity for everyone to affirm the good intentions we had at the recent Congregational Retreat at Mount Madonna, and to discuss how we will carry out these intentions in a way that we do not “burn out” in our attempts. Make a right turn on Coronado Street. Go two blocks to Sir Francis and make a Left. 849 will be on the left.

Take the State Park Drive Exit off of Highway 1 and go towards the beach (Seacliff State Beach)
Go over the railroad tracks and take a left on Center St.
Take the first (Broadway) or second (East) LEFT a half block down
North Ave does not have a marker but you run out of road. Turn right onto North Ave
We are at 238 North Ave. on the left side. Come around the back using the gate on the right of the house.

3841 Mission Dr. Santa Cruz 95065. It’s at the top of the hill above Dominican Hospital. Mission Dr is the interseciting traffic light that borders Soquel ave. and the Rabo Bank/Erik’s Deli and Physician Offices near the Dominican campus. Proceed up the hill where it splits and go to the left (if you go to the right it will dead end). As you get to the top of the hill, veer to the right. The house is the only hacienda-style, single story home on the left with Spanish-tiled roof.
